NDAtlanta.com Website Relaunch

Website Relaunch.jpg

Have you been to our club website lately? Our webmasters, Bryce Chung and Tom Larimer, have been busy redesigning our Notre Dame Club of Atlanta website to make it user friendly, more flexible and informative.  It is greatly improved from the old site and work is on-going to keep club members informed of events and opportunities to volunteer.

While the website will change, we are also working hard to integrate the site with the University's system for email, membership and events.  You will find the website easier to navigate and stay informed in the future.

One thing that you will notice over the next few months is membership changes.  The university and the club had been maintaining two membership list.  We will be integrating our local membership system (PayPal) and the university.  Many club members have signed up for automatic membership renewal using PayPal.  As we integrate into the university systems, you will need to sign up again for membership just once when your current membership expires.  Using the new you will also be able always check your current membership status and additional customized information at myNotreDame.nd.edu.

From a club perspective, we will have up to date club information for and about members, easier event registrations for members, more accurate data for emailing alumni and other local community groups.

Look for more improvements over the next few months as we add additional content and functionality to the site.

ND-Georgia Weekend

ND_Georgia Weekend.jpg

The major logistics for the  September 21st match up vs. Georgia are set.  The club is hosting the events for the university throughout the weekend.  We expect thousands of alumni and friends to descend upon Atlanta and Athens (Thursday, September 19th through Sunday, September 22nd) for one of the biggest college football contests this season.

WEEKEND OVERVIEW

Football Luncheon, Sept. 20th, 12PM  - We are in the early planning stages of putting together a football luncheon featuring former Notre Dame coaches and players at a local Buckhead restaurant.  Tickets will be available to purchase soon on our website to cover the luncheon costs.

Pep Rally, September 20th, 6:30 PM - Doors will open at 5PM for the Pep Rally at Wild Heaven on Midtown Beltline, 1020 White St SW.  The venue is brand new with several other restaurants and breweries in the area.   The event will be family friendly, feature the ND Bookstore and potentially some game giveaways.

The team, coaches, cheerleaders and special guests will be present to pump up the team for the game Saturday.  Drinks and food will be available.  Admission is free with registration.  We expect 500 or more people to attend so register soon on ndatlanta.com.  Following the Pep Rally, the Young Alumni are planning a bar crawl at some of the establishments on the west side.

Game Day Parking/Transportation -  As a service to local and out of town visitors, we are coordinating game day bus transportation and car parking for the event.

  • Parking - One of our club members, Mike Cleary, has been able to secure parking in downtown Athens near the tailgate and the stadium. Parking must be pre-purchased on our website. You will be able to park but not tailgate at the parking lots. Parking passes are $35 plus card fees.

  • Bus Transportation - The club is contracting with a bus company to take fans from Centennial Olympic Park to / from the Athens for game day. We need to purchase full bus loads to keep the costs low as we pay on a bus basis. Sign-up early on the club site to guarantee a spot on the bus. Ticket pricing is expected to be approximately $40 plus card fees.

Irish Fest Tailgate Party, Septmber 21st, 3:00 PM (ET) - The Game Tailgate will take place at The Classic Center, the convention center in Athens, a short walk from the stadium.  The event will family friendly and feature Southern barbeque, cheerleaders, the Notre Dame Bookstore, speakers, a DJ and other entertainment.  It is beautiful facility and we expect approximately 2,000 attendees. Tickets are available for purchase on our website, ndatlanta.com, with adult and child pricing.  Please purchase early as we will need to cut off sales two weeks before the event for the caterer.

Game Day Mass - We are planning a game day mass in conjunction with and at The Catholic Center at UGA prior to the game.

Notre Dame Day at SunTrust Park, September 22, 1:20 PM (ET) - Our club has arranged with the Atlanta Braves for a Notre Dame Day at SunTrust Park against the San Francisco Giants for the final regular season home game of the year.  Fans purchasing tickets through the website at Braves.com/NotreDame will get a co-branded Notre Dame Braves cap. Tickets are dynamically priced based on demand, so purchase early.

Discounts to Local Attractions - we are working with local businesses to provide discount codes for Notre Dame alumni for local attractions while visitors are in town.  These will be available on ndatlanta.com.

Weekend and Event Sponsorships available -  College football is coming to Atlanta and Athens the weekend of September 21st.  We are hosting huge events for alumni and friends throughout the week.  ESPN GameDay and CBS Sports will likely be covering the weekend’s pregame activities.  The club is seeking sponsorships from businesses to help defray costs and minimize some of the risks for our club.  If you are interested in getting national exposure to alumni, friends, and college football fans, please contact vice.president@ndatlanta.com.

Call for Volunteers - The club is made up entirely of volunteers.  The weekend activities will be a great deal of fun for all but also a big undertaking.  If you are interest in helping with the any of the events, please contact a board member or email ndatlanta@alumni.nd.edu.
